School
Uniforms The GICS uniform is required for all students and
stands for pride in GICS and in oneself. Uniforms must be clean and
in good repair. Uniforms are symbols of the school and
should be treated as such.
The specific months in which one uniform or another should be
worn are intended as guidelines. Except for those occasions when a
particular uniform is required (such as school picture day), parents
may make their own decisions as to which uniform makes the most
sense given the current weather, and dress their children
accordingly.
Girls Uniform
| Shirt |
Plain white short or long sleeve knit shirt with collar,or
short
or long sleeve white blouse with button down (available at
Land's End with sailboat logo), or
white shirt with Peter Pan collar, or
white turtleneck shirt. |
| Jumper |
GICS regulation plaid jumper (except 5th
graders, who wear GICS plaid kilt of same material as
jumper). Girls are encouraged to wear navy gym shorts under
the jumper. Navy pantyhose, tights or leggings are also
permitted, but no sweat pants. |
| Pants |
Navy dress pants in place of jumper (except
5th graders, who wear khaki dress slacks). (No cargo
pants) |
| Shorts or Skorts |
Navy blue dress shorts or skorts (except 5th graders,
who wear khaki shorts). (No cargo shorts) |
| Sweatshirt |
GICS logo navy blue sweatshirt or Land's
End sailboat sweatshirt. |
| Socks |
Plain white socks; black socks are allowed
on non-PE days. |
| Shoes |
Standard, low cut, tie dress shoes (black, brown or
navy) or white, navy or black low tie sneakers.
(No slip-on, zip, Velcro, buckles or anything other than
tie shoes are acceptable in grades 1-5; zippers and Velcro
are permitted in Pre-K and Kindergarten only.) |

Gym Uniforms
All GICS boys and girls wear gym uniforms to school on their gym days.
Please check classroom schedules given to you by the Homeroom
teacher.

Boys and girls in scouting programs may bring their uniforms to
school and change at the end of the day but are not to wear them
during the school day except on special occasions approved in
advance by the Head of School.
Please label all clothing! Clothing without labels will be
held for a reasonable time in Lost & Found and then sent to the
Parents Association as used uniforms.
