Angel Tree

2009

When:  December 2009

For:  Sarah's House

Please join the first grade this year in their annual Christmas Community Service Project, the Angel Tree.  This project provides some of the children residing at Sarah's House over the holidays with Christmas presents, which they would otherwise be without.

Sarah's House is a local shelter that provides housing and other services to help victims of domestic violence escape their situations and get back on their feet.  Needless to say, this is an especially bleak time for a parent of child to face without any resources or the security of home.  Through our Angel Tree, we can bring a little of the magic and hope of Christmas to these precious children.

In early December, the Angel Tree will be on display in the school office.  Each angel will have a child's name, age, size, and gift wish on it.  To participate, choose an angel (or let your child choose for you) and sign your name next to the angel's corresponding number on the sign-up sheet.  Then drop the gifts off in the lobby.  Please attach all the gifts together and tape the angel to the top to ensure that your child gets the correct gift.  If you are not able to come pick your angel out but would still like to participate, please call the school and one will be back-packed home to you.

We know many of us are a little more strapped this year than normal, and it may not be easy to come up with extra gifts.  But what a wonderful lesson to teach our children about all of us pulling together to help our community and about the spirit of the holidays, that sometimes we give a little up in order to give to others who have less.

Thank you so much for your participation, and our wish that all our families have a happy holiday season.

:: Community Service Projects

Every homeroom sponsors a community service project during the school year.  A coat drive, Easter basket making, and visits to an assisted living facility are just some of the projects in which are students are involved.

We thank you for all your support with our outreach programs!
